Volunteer Opportunities

Our Spot KC offers a variety of ways for volunteers to get involved.

Childcare

• We are seeking experienced, reliable volunteers to provide childcare for youth, ages 4-17, while their parent/legal guardian attends our weekly Life Skills Workshops on Wednesdays from 4-7pm at our Navigation Center. Must be able to pass a background check.
    

Clothing Closet

• We are seeking volunteers to ensure those who visit our Clothing Closet have a respectful and efficient experience. In this role, you will organize and sort new and gently-used donated clothes, shoes, accessories, and everyday items.

Community Event Support

• We are seeking volunteers to staff events hosted at our main campus, the Our Spot KC Navigation Center. In this roll, you may help participants check-in, provide traffic control, and offer general support. 

​

Cooking/Meal Support

• We are seeking volunteers passionate about food to plan, prepare, and serve meals for our Life Skills Workshop attendees once a week on Wednesdays. Must have a food handlers license. 

​

Housewarming Baskets

• We are seeking volunteers to create and donate housewarming baskets for residents in our Lion House housing program. Housewarming baskets include items such as hygiene products. (toothpaste, toothbrush, female hygiene, shampoo/conditioner, body wash, etc.)

Front Desk

• We are seeking charismatic, friendly volunteers to work the Our Spot KC Navigation Center front desk during scheduled events. Some of these are recurring events such as our Life Skills Workshop or one of our Support Groups events. 

​

Life Skills Workshop Presentation

• We are seeking volunteers with a certified knowledge of certain subjects, such as financial literacy, household maintenance, personal hygiene and health, community development  vocational training, and relationship management. If you are interested and passionate about your area of expertise, please reach out to present at a Life Skills Workshop for our Lion House program participants.

Outreach Tabling

• We are seeking friendly, knowledgeable volunteers to represent Our Spot KC at local community partner events, such as career, health, and resource fairs. At these events, we set up "tables" to share information about our organization and educate the community  on they can get involved.
